The math is simple and fixed: sugar is a carbohydrate, and every gram of carbohydrate provides 4 calories. What the burn times mean

Calories on a label are abstract; minutes of exercise are not. The burn-time figures use widely cited approximations for a ~70 kg adult: brisk walking burns about 4 kcal per minute, moderate cycling about 7 kcal per minute, and running at ~10 km/h about 10 kcal per minute. Energy cost scales roughly with body mass, so if you enter your own weight the calculator multiplies each rate by your weight ÷ 70. A 90 kg person burns the same cola off faster than the default suggests; a 55 kg person needs longer.

These are honest ballparks, not lab measurements — pace, incline, fitness, and individual metabolism all move the numbers. The point is the order of magnitude: one can of cola costs about 35 minutes of brisk walking. Nobody "walks off" a daily soda habit by accident.

The yearly projection — read it carefully

The yearly figure multiplies your daily grams by 365 and converts the calories using ~7,700 kcal per kilogram of body fat. It is an energy equivalence, not a weight-gain prediction: eating 50 g of sugar a day does not automatically add 9.5 kg a year, because your total diet, activity, and metabolic adaptation all matter.
